Heritage That Lasts: From Grandpa’s Farm Truck to Handcrafted Leather
On a perfect lil piece of ground in Lyman, Idaho, my Grandma and Grandpa built their lives around a small potato farm and about sixty pair of cattle. Their days were measured in hard work, dirt, and love, and maybe the weight of grandpas fish bag.
My grandpa had an old farm truck, and it wasn’t shiny or new. It wasn’t built to impress—it was built to work. My dad and uncles loaded the back with little bales every day to feed the cows. When it was time to move the herd to a new pasture, they’d drive that truck down the road, and the cows would follow. It was reliable, sturdy, and always ready for the job.
To me, that truck represents the generation of my grandparents. They weren’t a throwaway generation. They believed in taking care of what they owned, making things last, and valuing usefulness over appearance. It didn’t have to be the prettiest or the best—it just had to do the job.
That same philosophy is alive in handcrafted leather. Like Grandpa’s old truck, leather is built to endure. Firefighters trust it because it resists flames. Cowboys rely on it because it stands up to the grit, dust, and unpredictability of ranch life. Leather is one of the coolest materials out there—not because it’s flashy, but because it’s dependable.
At Poulsen Leather, we carry that heritage forward. Every product we make is crafted with care, designed to last through the wear and tear of real life. Our scripture covers, for example, are built to endure a two-year mission and beyond. They’re not just accessories; they’re companions for the journey.
Whether it’s an old reliable truck or an old reliable scripture cover, the principle is the same: quality lasts. Heritage lasts. And when you take care of the things you own, they’ll take care of you.
